Community Nursery
The Community Nursery is an environmental initiative of the City. It focuses on propagating and cultivating a wide range of local native plants for the City.
The City's Community Nursery Officer guides a dedicated team of volunteers who help grow tens of thousands of native plants for the revegetation of Greater Geraldton's native bushland reserves, coastal areas, public open spaces and the CBD.
The annual operation includes germinating seeds, striking cuttings, pricking on seedlings into sapling pots, and potting on saplings into larger pots. Included is cultivating 3-year native tress in 35 litre bags. Once the propagation season is complete the volunteers engage community in planting projects.
The nursery is not a commercial nursery which sells to the public all year round and operates to accommodate annual orders. Once a year the nursery is open to the public for a one-off sale of the surplus stock.
If you have any questions regarding Nursery orders or operations, please contact the Community Nursery Officer on 0409 088 975.
